21-87
21-87 was Lipsetts second collage film. He shot much of the footage himself in Montreal and New York City in the early sixties on his own Bolex camera. Some of the shots that were taken in New York include the footage of men on park benches, a street sweeper and pigeons in New York Citys Dominion Square. He shot the fashion show footage in Montreal. The film also uses NFB stock footage as well as stills. There is a strong religious over-tone, and the film also explores a man-machine dilemma. A voice which states Well your number is 21-87 isnt it, boy does that person really, uh, smile is heard at the films end, while a machines clicking/buzzing sound is played over moving images of a dancer and a corpse being dissected, indicating the link between people and robots or machines.
